liver cubes with mushrooms and alphabet pasta

In 2 Tbs melted margarine, sauté

  • 4 Tbs fresh chives with
  • 2 Tbs sliced blanched almonds and
  • 3/4 cup sliced mushrooms.

Stir in 12-18 oz. liver cubes. Continue to sauté until the liver cubes begin to color.When the mushrooms and chives are tender, reduce heat to low. Stir in

  • 2 cups heavy cream, adding
  • 1-3 Tbs instant gravy mix to thicken, if desired.

Season the sauce with

  • 1 Tbs curry powder
  • 1 tsp dill seed
  • 1 tsp basil, and
  • one thread of saffron.

Cover and simmer about 30 mins.Serve hot over alphabet pasta. Garnish each serving with coleslaw.
